New York Green Space's Potential Future Outline as Unveiled by Freedom Plaza

In the heart of Manhattan's East Side, a new project is set to transform 6.3 acres of land from 38th to 41st street, east of Fifth Avenue. This ambitious development, known as Freedom Plaza, will not only serve as a home for a Museum of Freedom and Democracy but also aim to provide amenities for residents and visitors of the city.

Freedom Plaza will be a bustling hub, offering a hotel with over 1,200 luxury rooms, a casino, a community center, and two residential towers providing affordable housing options. The hotel will boast amenities such as a spa, roof deck, and conference spaces, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay for its guests.

The outdoor area of Freedom Plaza will be a haven for both relaxation and entertainment. It will feature an 18,000-square-foot central lawn, a water garden, shaded seating areas, and food and beverage kiosks. The central attraction will be a 700-foot East River Promenade, offering breathtaking views of the river, and a 7,000 square-foot children's play area, ensuring fun for all ages.

The design of Freedom Plaza is unique, fusing urban life, art, and nature. This is made possible through the expertise of OJB Landscape Architecture, which is honoured to be part of the project. Jim Burnett, OJB Landscape Architecture's president, highlighted the design's focus on creating a seamless transition between the city and nature, making it a truly unique destination.

Interest in Freedom Plaza extends beyond its design, with 11 entertainment and gaming companies showing interest in winning one of the three New York downstate licenses. Among these contenders are Mohegan and The Soloviev Group, who have proposed the Freedom Plaza project. Ray Pineault, Mohegan's CEO, reaffirmed the company's dedication to enriching lives and communities.

Besides Mohegan and MGM, there are ten other entertainment and gaming companies that have applied for a New York downstate casino license. However, the exact names of these companies are not explicitly detailed in the provided search results. The New York State Gaming Commission is currently reviewing applications, with a decision expected by December 2025.

In summary, Freedom Plaza is set to become a new landmark in Manhattan, offering a unique blend of urban life, art, and nature. With its amenities, design, and potential to bring entertainment and gaming to the city, it is sure to be a destination worth visiting.
